Not Latina Enough

If you’re going to enter a racist event, don’t be surprised if you get kicked out on the grounds of race.

Last month, a 7 year old girl lost her Little Miss Hispanic crown, and the internet went apeshit.

News media was flooded with headlines, like this one from DailyMail.uk:

Or this one from latinorebels.com:

Or this one from Huffingtonpost:

The reason given, get this: “she isn’t a good representation of Hispanic Beauty”.

The public roared in protests. People even started a Change.org petition to petition the judges to return the crown to little Ms McKoy. And the question that everyone’s asking:

“Is it because she’s black?!”

The answer is: Of course it is! 

The pageant is called Little Miss Latina. You have to prove that you are 25% Latina to participate.

Why is this stupid? – you may ask. Here’s why:

If you’re going to participate in an event which requires that you present proof of your ancestry to participate, don’t be surprised if you get kicked out on the grounds of race.
